Soccerex have announced that Simon Timson, UK Sport’s Director of Performance, has confirmed his participation at this year’s Soccerex Global Convention taking place at the Manchester Central Convention Complex, 7-9th September 2015.

Simon joined UK Sport as Director of Performance in January 2013 and is responsible for leading the Performance Directorate with the mission of developing a stronger and more sustainable high performance system to enable Britain’s athletes to continue to improve on their remarkable London 2012 achievements by winning more Olympic and Paralympic medals in Rio 2016 and Tokyo 2020.

The British winter sport high performance system achieved historic success in Sochi 2014 and Simon was one of the driving forces supporting the sports in equalling their best ever Olympic medal haul, including a first ever Olympic medal on snow, and ParalympicsGB’s record breaking six medals that included the first ever winter Paralympic Games Gold medal won by Kelly Gallagher.

Having graduated with a PhD in Psychology from The University of Leeds, Simon qualified as a British Association of Sport and Exercise Sciences Accredited Sport and Exercise Scientist.  He also consults with a number of blue chip companies on high performance including Barclaycard, Centrica, Arriva, Virgin Money and, NFL franchises.

Simon will be discussing his vision for Great Britain’s Rio 2016 and Tokyo 2020 medal drives and the way in which methods off the pitch can dictate success on it, on a panel that will be looking at how institutions create a winning sporting culture within teams, federations and organizations.
