Atlético de Kolkata v Delhi Dynamos FC

Atlético de Kolkata and Delhi Dynamos FC clashed in a Hero Indian Super League (ISL) match at the Saltlake Stadium, Kolkata on Sunday.

Delhi started with Alessandro Del Piero and the Italian legend produced the first action of the game just five minutes into the match. Del Piero went down in the Atlético de Kolkata box claiming a penalty, but referee MB Santosh Kumar judged the situation against Del Piero and booked the former Juventus star with a yellow card for diving.

Atlético had their first chance a few moments later when a great through ball by Baljit Singh Sahni almost found Luis García in the box. But Delhi Dynamos goalkeeper Kristof Van Hout was on alert and came out of his goal to clear the situation ahead of the on-rushing Spaniard.

Fikru Teferra Lemessa had another chance for the home side in the 19th minute, when the Ethiopian striker almost took advantage of a sloppy backpass from Hans Mulder. But Van Hout once again did just enough to deny Atlético the lead at the Saltlake Stadium.

Shylo Malswamtulunga produced a great challenge on the Atlético goal in the 32nd minut, when the experienced Mizo star hit the top of the crossbar with a beautiful shot from outside of the box.

Atlético looked quite tired today while playing their third games within seven days, while Delhi was far more impressive as both teams had to cope with a goalless draw at half-time.

Atlético de Kolkata head coach Antonio López Habas was forced to replace his marquee player Luis García with Rakesh Masih due to an injury.

The second half kicked-off with a bang as Wim Raymaekers brought down Fikru Teferra Lemessa in the Delhi Dynamos box to give away a penalty for shirt pulling. Jofre Mateu cooly converted the resulting penalty leaving no chance to Kristof Van Hout.

Jakub Podany tested Van Hout with a left-footed volley, but the keeper managed to punch the ball away. Van Hout saved his side once again minutes later, when he denied Jofre Mateu to score his second goal of the match.

Delhi Dynamos managed to score the equalisier as Pavel Eliáš surprised everyone with a stunning volley from outside the box leaving Atlético goalkeeper Subhasish Roy Chowdhury no chance at all to save the brilliant shot.

The frustration around the Atlético de Kolkata was evident in the final minutes of the games which had its highlight in a sent off for Rakesh Masih.

Both sides settled for a 1-1 draw as the referee blew the final whistle.
