ASD Cape Town star Brandon Fernandes hit the target for Goa-India as they defeated Macau in the semifinal of the Lusofonia Games Goa 2014 football tournament on Sunday.

Goa-India dominated the proceedings at the packed Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium, Fatorda from kick-off. Brandon Fernandes had the first chance just three minutes into the game, when the youngster tested Macau goalkeeper Ho Man Fai with a freekick.

Brandon finally found the back of the net for the hosts in the 17th minute, as the ASD Cape Town player put a stunning freekick past Ho Man Fai to hand his side a well deserved 1-0 lead at half-time.

Goa-India’s Portuguese coach Francesco Neto had a few moments of concern in the second half, as his team displayed a poor use of their chances.

Macau almost punshied the Goa-India team for the poor finishing, when Mak Chi Ieong finished off a counter attack with a shot which missed the target by a few inches.

Sio Ka Un had another great opportunity for Macau, but the midfielder failed to take advantage of a goalkeeping blunder by Goa-India keeper Albino Gomes.

Sahil K. De Norhonha put the final nail on the coffin moments before the final whistle to hand Goa-India a 2-0 win and to book their place in the final of the Lusofonia Games Goa 2014 football tournament.

Goa-India will now face Mozambique in the final on January 28. Mozambique and Goa-India faced each other twice at the group stage, with both sides winning a match.
