Former United States Women’s national team midfielder and current Portland Thorns FC coach Cynthia Marie Parlow Cone, populary known as Cindy Parlow Cone, visited India as part of the “Goals for Girls” initiative.

Cindy Parlow Cone is one of the most successful players and coaches in US history. She has represented her country in 158 international matches including the 1999 and 2003 FIFA Women’s World Cup and the 1996, 2000 and 2004 Olympics.

“Goals for Girls” is an international initiative of girls helping girls through the game of football. Cindy Parlow Cone and former Thorns forward Danielle Foxhoven travelled to India along with a team of young American female footballers from Oregon and North Carolina to conduct CSR activities and to play friendly matches in Kanchipuram, Bangalore/Bengaluru and Delhi/NCR.

The “Goals for Girls” team have worked with 120 Indian girls (ages 9-15) from impoverished and leprosy affected communities during their stay in India, which started on December 27 in Bangalore. The journey to India ended today as the US girls boarded their flight to America.
