East Bengal Club have kicked-off the 117th “NVD” IFA Shield 2013 with a 1-0 win against Pailan Arrows on Sunday.
Chidi Edeh scored the lone goal of the match in the 35th minute, when Soram Poirei Anganba and R. Vishal Kumar failed to clear a shot by the Nigerian striker just see it crossing the goalline.
The IFA Shield will continue on Tuesday with another Group A encounter between Prayag United SC and Pailan Arrows, while Mohun Bagan and Pune FC will kick-off Group B on the same day [+ full fixtures].
