English Premiership club Reading FC have made a bid worth US$ 1 million for Indian U19 international Brandon Fernandes according to unconfirmed media reports.

The youngster from Goa spent two weeks with “The Royals” and he managed to impress the coaches while sweating it out for their development squad.

Brandon is currently in Leicester for another two week long trial with English Championship club Leicester City FC. The young attacking midfielder will start training with LCFC’s development squad today as reported earlier [+ read more].

“It is a great honour to have had a trial with Reading and [if a deal can be reached] I will be very happy to play for them,” Brandon told colleagues at ESPN Star Sports.

“I have been training with the club’s under-21s which is a good experience. I think that if I want to move to England I need to match their players physically,” he added.

Brandon would be the first Indian player to sign a deal with an EPL side and the second Indian to play in an English professional league after India legend Baichung Bhutia’s stint with Bury FC.

The Goan kid holds a Portuguese passport and he won’t face any work permit issues like Sunil Chhetri when his deal with Queens Park Rangers fell through due to work permit reasons.

The authenticity of the media reports are yet TO BE CONFIRMED and we have to wait and see how things progress in the coming days…
