BREAKING NEWS: Services win Santosh Trophy 2012

Services

Services have won the 66th Santosh Trophy 2012 with a 3-2 win against Tamil Nadu in the final played at Cuttack, Orissa.

Services took the lead in the dying moments of the first half, when Sanju Subba slotted home in the 45th minute. Subrata Sarkar increased the lead minutes into the second half, while VV Farhad added a third goal for the Services.

The match seemed to be a done deal for the Services, but Tamil Nadu came back strongly in the final minutes of the game. Santa Kumar (82nd) and M. Ramesh (89th) scored and gave some hope to the Tamil Nadu side.

But the Services managed to keep the scoreline and the match ended 3-2 in their favour.

Services have won the Santosh Trophy for the second time in the history of the competition, while Tamil Nadu is still waiting for their first-ever national championship.
