Mikael Granlund, a 19-year-old forward for Finland, scored a lacrosse-style goal in the IIHF World Championship 2011 semifinal against Russia that became an instant YouTube hit and could be termed a historic one.
In a seamless full-speed move, Granlund lifted the puck into the air with his stick, dragged several feet in mid-air, and swatted it into the net, making the goalie look silly, and giving Finland a 1-0 lead.
