19-year old Lena Meyer-Landrut has emerged triumphant at this year's Eurovision Song Contest with her song "Satellite" and clinched the title for Germany.
After an exciting voting in front of 18,000 people in a fully packed Oslo Telenor Arena and millions of TV viewers all over Europe, it was finally Lena who received the highest number of points from televoters and juries from the 39 countries participating in this year's edition of the Eurovison Song Contest! Germany managed to gather 246 points altogether, followed by maNga from Turkey with 170 points and Ovi & Paula Selling from Romania who collected 162 points.
Lena won the German national final "Unser Star Für Oslo" in the middle of the preparations for her high school exams. The casting was done under the guidance of German TV Showmaster and music producer Stefan Raab. Raab is well-known for his ability to find new young talents in the world of music and to produce excellent tv and entertainment shows.
Speaking to the media after the event, Lena stated: "I am shocked, and I am very happy, it is so much to think about, I am so grateful in fact I am completely freaking out. Winning is a gut feeling, but it is not everything. It is awesome, but it is not life, and I want to enjoy it as much as I can."
Germany's last Eurovision success was in 1982, when female singer Nicole won the contest with her song "Ein bißchen Frieden".
A day to celebrate for all of us!
