The 2010 FIFA World Cup is set to kick-off in a few days time and we are already enjoying the pre-event hype in various parts of our daily life. World Cup coverage in the media, commercials, contests and of course World Cup songs are paving the way to the big highlight in South Africa! World Cup songs are very essential for the success of any final tournament. These songs represent the tournament, the culture and more important the emotions of the beautiful game of football. World Cup songs should ideally represent the host nation with local musical elements, while approaching the needs of the global follower.
The FIFA has chosen “Waka Waka (This Time for Africa)” as the official song of the 2010 FIFA World Cup™ in South Africa. The song is performed by the world-famous singer Shakira along with the band Freshlyground.
Meanwhile, football fans are in favour of the song “Wavin’ Flag” by K’naan and David Bisbal. The song “Wavin’ Flag” is the official World Cup song of Coca-Cola and their campaign for the finals.
